DE VONK

How to combine government and teenager interests ? Partying is a medium for youth to feel free from responsability and to have fun. Playfulness is an important parameter considering that the youngest generations were born with digital devices and that they are pemanently looking for next excitements. In january 2014, the legal drinking age was increased by two years from 16 to 18 years old in The Netherlands, because of health issues. How can we , as designer, create a compromise which can lead both sides to understand more each other ? I propose a concept bar « De Vonk» ( The Spark in English) which is a collaboration between the goverment and bartenders. It offers different tools which make young people more aware of their level of alcohol. Some are directly in relation with the body, others are integrated in the space. They are design in order to follow the natural behavior adopted by young people in bars,

NOTHING IS FORCED, EVERYTHING IS ATTRACTIVE AND INTERACTIVE.

Each tools can be at term implemented in an already existing bar.

BIOCOSMETICS

Our society is global : information, objects and people are in constant motion. Because of this, needs are changing, evolving and increasing. Working on this nomadic aspect of our lives can allow us to control the harmful consequences generated by this mobility . It can start with basic habits like moisturize our skin every morning. I chose to work on a travel cosmetic kit that we can use for few days. I play with the very thin line between bioplastics and biocmetics.

THE OBJECT IS A SUBSTANCE THAT DISAPPEAR A LITTLE BY EVERYDAY USE.

These kits are ephemeral and when the travel is over, they disappeared totally .

FACES

INSPIRED BY A TECHNIQUE USED TO MAKE TRADITIONAL JAPONESE PAPER AS FLASHY NAIL-POLISH,

I create this collection of masks where I apply it on beech wood. Materially, I play with the contrast : rigid and fluid; dark and clear; dense and diluted. Some mobile elements can be changed, combined, to give the possibility to children to make their own masks.

INTENTIONAL MISTAKES

I develop a reflexion around the idea of «shape-shapeless» . Which are the opportunities to transform spaces, bodies, objects known into unformed elements ? How will it modify our reading and thus affect our relation to them ? Where is the limit of recognisable ? When can the modification of an image or an item transform the meaning of it ? To approach these questions, I firstly worked through collages and then fragmented and rebuilt it. It offers an

ABNORMAL WAY OF SEEING DAILY-LIFE ELEMENTS.

MEMENTO MORI

The death of a close family member is a very sensitive moment for his relatives who have to manage at the same time their sadness, start administrative and expensive procedures and organize burial which correspond the best to the values and the desires of the deceaded. But what if we could plan our funeral and -even more -our death? The preparations do not weight upon the circle of acquaintances anymore :

THE D-DAY IS LAST INVITATION WE CAN OFFER TO OUR RELATIVES,

the last moment we will share together. A time of meditation, nostalgia and maybe of surprise! Memento Mori is a death planner agency which takes care of organizing the events surrounding death by respecting all asked wishes. The agency has a physical location and a website where, within a personal area, everybody can express his wish of the day and get inspired by different ceremonies.

PEDALS

How to treat physical problems in a dynamic context ? Pedals, for someone who is practicing this activity regularly can be an interesting tool to increase toes joints flexibility . By pedalling, the user exerts pressure on every pedal and their shapes can have an impact on the positioning of feet and toes. These wooden pedals have a particular curve shape on one side which allows the user to stretch his toes.

THE SHAPE CAN BE ADAPTED TO EVERY USER, CONSIDERING HIS NEEDS SINCE THE PEDAL IS BUILD IN SLIDES.

The other side- flat- is appropriate for a traditional use of the pedal, when the user need some rest !

TEXTILE SWITCH

Technology through experiences. Technology through tactility.

SENSITIVITY AND TECHNOLOGY

Our actual technologies come into form through flat and smooth interfaces. But it can become much more playful and tactile. Why not press, strecht, rub, jump on technology ? The textile switch is working with the Arduino device. A conductive yarn, with the same quality as wool, is woven into the textile and allows to switch on and off a light by stretching the textile. It offers a new perspective on what daily objects can look like and implement a new behavior, a new relation to it.

INTXAURRONDO

Intxaurrondo is a tribute to the Basque Country, to its craftsmen and their values. I firstly met two enthusiasts who work as Espadrille (rope-soled sandal ) maker. I learnt their know-how and techniques but also their opinion on the place they have on society and how they would like to develop their profession. I started to work with the desire of showing their values which can be summarized in four word :

SIMPLE, HUMBLE, NATURAL AND NOMADIC.

I experimented with the traditionnal components of an Espadrille and by changing the proportions of each material, I created a new collection of objects. They are bags, objects in movements, in direct relation to the body, as shoes can be.

I design for others.
I choose the human being as a value, as a scale, as an emotion, as a sight. I explore my surrounding and try to understand ways of living, ways of using items, ways of communicating. I am fascinated by the ordinary, the humble daily-life.
So, as a creative person, I use all the data I collect to create actions, reactions and possibilities toward the future. These stimulus become interfaces between humans, their bodies, their minds and their surroundings. They take form through objects and experiences, material or virtual .
I aim to build alternatives by presenting an open sensitive approach. From all the different layers that compose the reading of a context, I build a coherent story : an enthusiasm.
